Patients

A pathway that begins the day your diagnosis is confirmed.

Learning a diagnosis, and facing the prospect of surgery, raises many questions. Our role is to be with you at every step, clearly and with care. From the first consultation, we set out a precise schedule together, with dedicated contacts to answer all your questions.

Listening

First consultation

Your pathway begins with a dedicated consultation at CICOD. Dr Melloul reviews your file, goes through the imaging and results already available with you, and answers your questions, including those you may not always dare to ask.

At the end of this meeting, a precise schedule is set together: any further tests, the date of the multidisciplinary meeting, the likely timing of surgery. You leave with named contacts and a direct number.

  • Consultation in French, English, German or Hebrew
  • Your file can be sent in advance by your own physician
  • Our office gives you a written schedule

Discussion

Multidisciplinary meeting

No treatment decision is made alone. Each week, at the clinic, your case is presented and discussed in a multidisciplinary meeting, the Tumor Board, before surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, gastroenterologists and radiologists.

Discussion comes before decision. The strategy chosen is the one all these specialties judge best suited to your situation, in line with the most recent international standards. It is then explained to you in detail.

  • Weekly meetings, held at the clinic
  • Six specialties around a single case
  • At your request, complex cases can be discussed with international reference teams

Safety

Preoperative work-up, prehabilitation and surgery

The preoperative work-up defines the anatomy, assesses your general condition and allows the procedure to be anticipated in detail. A prehabilitation program prepares you for surgery. Where the indication allows, we prefer minimally invasive and robotic approaches, in order to reduce the impact of surgery.

Surgery takes place within the Hirslanden group at Clinique Cecil in Lausanne, or, if you prefer, at Clinique de La Source or Clinique de Genolier: latest-generation operating rooms and a highly certified intensive care unit. Your safety and comfort are our absolute priority.

Recovery

Rehabilitation and follow-up

Recovery is prepared before surgery even takes place. CICOD applies the ERAS protocols, enhanced recovery after surgery, of which Dr Melloul is a pioneer and an active member of the international society: early mobilization, rapid return to eating, pain managed ahead of time.

Follow-up does not end when you leave. A schedule of check-ups is set, and your own physician systematically receives a report. Your contacts remain reachable throughout your convalescence.

  • ERAS protocols applied systematically
  • Convalescence optimized and made safer
  • A report sent systematically to your own physician
